San Antonio, TX – Sept. 16, 2009 – H-E-B is joining forces with the City of San Antonio, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) to launch a Parking Lot Safety Awareness Program in anticipation of the holiday season.
The program will aim to educate H-E-B customers on the importance of remaining alert and aware of their surroundings while in store parking lots. Customers can then apply their learned knowledge to remain safe as they visit other parking areas across the city.
“This private/public alliance will increase public awareness and education, and continue to develop safety practices throughout our community,” said San Antonio Police Chief William McManus.
“The protection and safety of our customers is important to us,” said Dya Campos, Director of Public Affairs for H-E-B. “This collective partnership is a proactive approach toward educating the community on steps they can take to remain safe this holiday season.”
The campaign will feature public broadcasts of shopper safety tips, which will also be provided in a flyer format. The flyers will be handed out to customers and posted at H-E-B stores. SAPD officers will also be at stores on announced dates to register and sticker vehicles with a heat decal as part of the department’s Heat (Anti-Auto theft) program.
